Lay Down Your Sword and Shield

2 small groups of "warriors" (perhaps even just 2) come into circle with wooden swords and shields and clattering them at each other. A strong singer steps into the middle of the scene and gently takes a sword from 2 of the shield-clatterers and sings a rousing rendition of:

I'm gonna lay down my sword and shield,
Down by the fireside, down by the fireside,
Gonna lay down my sword and shield,
Down by the fireside and study war no more.

I ain't gonna study war no more, ain't gonna study war no more,
Ain't gonna study war no more, no more!
I ain't gonna study war no more, ain't gonna study war no more,
I ain't gonna study war no more!

All sing along as each warrior adds their wooden implements to the fire. The song filks/morphs into:

I'm gonna pick up a drum and dance,
Down by the fireside, down by the fireside,
I'm gonna pick up a drum and dance,
Down by the fireside and sing this song of joy!

O I'm gonna sing this song of joy, I'm gonna sing this song of joy,
I'm gonna si-ing this song of jo-o-oy!
I'm gonna sing this song of joy, I'm gonna sing this song of joy,
I'm gonna sing this song of peace!

I'm gonna walk with the Lord and Lady,
Down by the fireside, down by the fireside,
I'm gonna walk with the Lord and Lady,
Down by the fireside and live in love and peace.

We're gonna live in love and peace, we're gonna live in love and peace,
We're gonna live in love and pe-e-eace!
O We're gonna live in love and peace, we're gonna live in love and piece,
We're gonna live in love and peace!
