The Kybalion
The Kybalion is a primer on hermetic philosophy.
This is a small book with an original copyright of 1912. It describes itself as being the first modern publication of the fundamental teachings of Hermes Trismegistus. In it's most recent publication, 1940 by the Yogi Publication Society, the word usage can seem a bit strange but the information is accessible and very useful. The authors refer to themselves as the Three Initiates. They write from the perspective of members of an ancient lineage of initiates who have studied and taught this knowledge down through the ages. They are making the information public in order to get the information out to those who would be students of such teachings.
